"Parts of the Body" is a fun & interactive game that will assist your child's comprehension of the make-up of the human body which covers the following strand in the grade 1 curriculum:
A.3.3 Identify the location and function of major parts of the human body, including sense organs (e.g., lungs are in my chest and are used for breathing; teeth are in my mouth and are used for eating; hair is on my head for protection from the cold; ears are on the sides of my head and are used for hearing).
PARENTS: What this means is that by the end of grade one, your child will be able to identify and locate the major body parts and be able to describe their specific functions.
TASK: Complete the following sentence: "I liked this game because...".
Be sure to explain why you liked it.
Next class, I will be handing out a worksheet where you will have to connect major body organs to the human body. Enjoy learning about the major parts of your body grade 1's!

RIIIIING - Time is Ticking!
Dear Fellow Grade 1's & Parents/Guardians,
PARENTS: What this means is that by the end of grade one, your child will be able to read and understand time, and be able to write time to the hour (:00) and to the half-hour (:30). Also, your child will be to develop a sense of time and be able to tell you at what time during the day (morning, noon, and night) certain activities take place.
In order to help students explore and understand the concept of time, please visit IXL Math (1) where you and your child can play an educational game that will help your child become familiar with reading and understanding time as represented both on digital and analogue clocks.
In addition, this Internet site provides audio playback to the questions they pose. This is a great way for students to not only have the questions read aloud but to also complete these games on their own.
TASK: Try and answer all the problems correctly in the shortest amount of time. Record the time it took, the total number of correct problems, and your SmartScore. Also, have your parents help you to describe the strategy you used to answer the questions correctly.
Time is ticking Grade 1's. Enjoy learning while playing these educational games!
Tick, tick, tick, tock.
